Where do I pick up and return my hire vehicle?
The Betta Car Hire office is located in Cleveland, Brisbane.
Airport transfers are available upon request, between 8am-5pm Monday to Friday for up to 4 people for $60 each way (unless prior arrangements are made). One of our friendly Betta Car staff will meet you at the Airport, and from there you will be driven to our Cleveland office. On completion of hire, you are to return the vehicle to the Cleveland office, from where we will transfer you to the airport (approx 40 min drive). Please contact our friendly staff for more information on this service.
Arranged International Airport Transfers - Please contact the office prior to your arrival with your contact information and flight details. Upon arrival turn on your mobile phone as to ensure our driver can contact you if necessary. Make your way to the bag collection area, collect your belongings, stay on the same level and head out the front doors to the designated passenger pick up zone. Once outside head to the far left hand side of the pick up zone, where our driver will meet you approximately 1 hour after your arrival time. From there you will be driven to our Cleveland office to check out your hire vehicle. Please refer to the mud map below.
Arranged Domestic Airport Transfers - Please contact the office prior to arrival with your contact number and flight details. Upon arrival, turn on your mobile phone as to ensure our driver can contact you if necessary. Make your way to the baggage collection area, collect your belongings and head out the front doors. Cross over two pedestrian crossings and wait under the pedestrian bridge at the designated passenger pick up zone, where our Betta Car driver will meet you approximately 1/2 hour after your arrival time. From there you will be transferred to our Cleveland office to check out your hire vehicle. Please refer to the mud map below.
How can I book a vehicle?
You can give us a call on 07 3821 1622 during office hours or just fill out our "Book Now" form and we will get back to you as soon as possible by email or phone.
Who can hire and drive our vehicles and what licence do I need?
All drivers must be over 25 and under 75, and hold a full, unrestricted licence. If you are required to carry a medical certificate to drive, this must be presented at time of hire. We accept State, Overseas and International licences. Even our 3 tonne Pantec trucks can be driven on a car licence!
What about additional drivers?
There is no extra charge for extra drivers but we do require licence details for all drivers. Please note that anyone who drives any of our vehicles must sign the contract in person. This is particularly important for our Pantec trucks as we must instruct all drivers on how to safely operate the vehicle.
What about insurance?
We have 2 options for Insurance excess coverage with our vehicles. You can choose to take coverage with a lower excess of $500.00* for a small fee per day or choose to keep the basic coverage which can see you liable for up to $3000* damage. Without choosing to reduce your insurance excess liability we must take a fully refundable security bond of $2500 bond for cars and $3000 for trucks. With excess reduction taken we only require a $250.00 security bond.
Items not covered by insurance or your damage waiver includes but is not limited to:
- Damaged tyres or missing items (i.e. hubcaps, isolator keys, etc.)
- Under body damage
- Damage above cabin height on trucks and caged utes
All our vehicles are covered by 24 hour RACQ roadside assistance (call-out fees may apply).
*Maximum excess for cars is $2500.00, and for Trucks $3000.00.
Is a bond/deposit required?
Yes. This amount depends on the Insurance excess option chosen.

$100 (There is no insurance offered with trailers as they are to be covered by the insurance of the vehicle towing the trailer)
How do I pay for my hire?
The full cost of your hire plus any bond must be paid on credit when you pick up your hire vehicle. Unfortunately we can't accept any other method of payment.
The cost of any extra charges (eg. tolls, extra kilometres, etc.) may be able to be paid by other methods. Please check with our staff if you have any queries about payment.
How many kilometres do I get with my hire?
All vehicles have a free kilometre limit included in the hire rate. Excess kilometres are charged at a standard rate.
Cars: limit is 200km/day, $0.22 per excess kilometre
Utes: limit is 150km/day, $0.22 per excess kilometre
Trucks: limit is 100km/day, $0.25 per excess kilometre
What if I return my hire vehicle early?
Returning a hired vehicle early may incur a penalty of that day's hire. The daily rate on any discounted or special hires may be recalculated at standard hire rates. Any refunds given will be at the discretion of Betta Car & Ute Hire.
Where can I take my hire vehicle?
The rental area for our vehicles is limited to the South-East Queensland tourist areas. These include the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Toowoomba areas, or any other area within 300km of the Brisbane City Centre. With prior approval, executive vehicles, tourist vehicles, and people-movers ONLY may be used outside the 300km area. Vehicles are restricted to sealed roads only. Vehicles must not be submerged in water or come in contact with salt water. Driving at night in country areas is strongly discouraged to avoid animal damage.
Our vehicles are the preferred hire vehicles to use on North Stradbroke Island, and unlike other hire companies you are covered for insurance on the vehicle ferry to the island.
Do you have any vehicles with tow bars?
We have particular utes and vans with tow balls. Please request this to staff at time of booking as not all our vehicles have them.
What about fuel?
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel. The vehicles must either be returned with a full tank of fuel or the renter will be charged $2.00 per litre. All fuel costs are the hirer's responsibility, and you must return the vehicle with a fuel reciept.
Can I also rent moving equipment, GPS's, etc. from you?
Upon request we can supply you with:
- Navman GPS
- Street directories
- Baby seats
